Don't know whether to rent an apartment or stay in a PG in Mukherjee Nagar? PGs are considered more comfortable compared to apartments or flats for rent due to various amenities. Compared to renting an apartment, paying guests is much cheaper, even three times cheaper than the usual apartment fee. Rents for prime PG in Mukherjee Nagar start from 6k per month inclusive of all services like food and basic amenities. Apart from the net monthly salary, these figures are very accurate. As others have pointed out, the average net monthly salary is probably around 30k. Bangalore is unnecessarily expensive and has a poor to average quality of life. Since many residents are out of state, the cost of basic necessities is inflated considering many of them work in the IT industry. Poor infrastructure, the highest level of corruption in every sector and slow development further reduce the quality of life.

Bangalore is one of the least livable cities in the world. The Karnataka government in Bengaluru is run by Hindu militants such as the RSS and the VHP. Millions of Bangaloreans support RSS and VHP. The agenda of RSS and VHP is "In India Hindus are hosts, Parsis and Jews are guests, Muslims and Christians are robbers". The Hindutva dictatorship centered on Bengaluru ensured that weekend closures, bans on New Year celebrations and curfews took their toll. There is no consensus or respect for people's opinions. During Hindu festivals, the number of Covid cases automatically drops to an all-time low without any precautions. The "average monthly salary" aspect of this site is ridiculous.

Rent is 20k, half the time I cook myself, I go out to eat 10-20 times a month, food is about 10k, and utilities about 5k. If you go to malls and cinema, you will spend another 10k. Commuting and miscellaneous expenses amount to 5k. 50 thousand people can live a semi-luxurious life. I can save about 100 thousand every month

How much money is needed for a good life in Bangalore? Is HRK 17,753 a realistic figure for renting a nice one-room apartment in the city center? What about other costs? Food, transport, clothes? Are Numbe's numbers close to everyday prices?
anonymous November 17, 2021:
The data on average monthly net salary after tax in Bangalore is laughable. On this page, it shows over 77,000. As Krupesh said, the average salary is about half of those numbers. In fact, taxpayers are paying huge amounts out of their salaries to the completely useless Indian government, while the citizens get nothing in return. The average monthly basic salary for a software company is around 20k to 30k in most companies in Bangalore. And all the companies here have a floating salary and the average salary after tax, more than 77k is really a big joke.
These details are not only for software companies but also for every single employee in Bangalore. Therefore, we ask people to never trust the salary details shown on this page.
krupes November 16, 2021:
I guarantee that the numbers on this page are completely fake. "Average monthly net pay" is 77,513? That's a joke. Actually, it should be around 35,000. Also there are many people in Bangalore who are getting very low wages. And I am one of them.

The above figures are far from reality. Prices in Bangalore are expensive as mentioned above unless you are staying somewhere like MG Road.
A single person without rent will be around 10,000. (Rent will be 18-20k)
anonymous June 24, 2021:
The data is incorrect so according to Numbe you can charge 60% of impressions, which would be the actual cost.

In Bengaluru, unless you book a local trip through an online app, auto drivers will never go towards the meter. They will charge almost 5 to 6 times the original price/ticket price. Transportation here can be very expensive.
@Rahul Singh, at least here IT Cell Bhakt troll army members like you can't downvote or report honest comments en masse. The whole world knows the "truth" about Bangalore and all of India. Why don't you go back to the troll playground of IT units like Quora, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Times of India?
I am happy to have honest reviews on this site. Let honesty prevail here.

Ironically, while Indians complain about racism abroad, their cities, particularly Bangalore, are hotbeds of serious racism and extreme discrimination. A central government organization in Bangalore hires and promotes people based on the caste system.
Bangalore is the capital of the Hindu militant group in South India. Millions of people in Bangalore, including thousands of software employees, managers and entrepreneurs, are loyal supporters and followers of the VHP, RSS and other militant Hindutva groups. These organizations are full of hatred and severe discrimination against religious minorities.
The entire government of India and Karnataka is completely controlled by Hindu militants. Bangalore is a disgrace to this world.

Cost of living in Bangalore is just a bit higher than other metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Chennai etc. The inflation graph has been very fast in the last 2 years. Small - small daily necessities also consume a lot. Like groceries for daily needs, daily travel for office workers etc. We have started a D2C working model of online grocery shopping in Bangalore where anyone can pay: https://groceryfactory.in/

Bangalore is very expensive for low income people, although there are many engineering colleges around bangalore, local people don't get jobs, but the life of garment workers and drivers is miserable, only recommendations, unless the candidate is talented, many kannadiga people hate it and do not recommend , real estate has grown 20000 percent in the last 25 years, the city is saturated in every way, the explanation of development here is itself wrong.
Zubin is July 22, 2019:
Some suggestions for this calculation:
1. As a major city in the developing world, Bangalore exhibits extreme inequality. Things like rent are difficult to use as a comparative metric; for example, subsistence housing exists in inner cities to provide cheap labor that increases the productivity of the affluent. Therefore, low rents can crush city averages, even in prestigious locations.
2. Proximity to the same underlying commodity in different markets can provide a better valuation method (along the lines of the Big Mac index). Collecting more commodity data on food, alcohol, transport, fuel, water and electricity prices, and then preferentially weighting that data in your index, can lead to more accurate results.
3. A better approach might be to segment respondents somewhat anonymously, their monthly rent/property value might be a good indicator. This should roughly correspond to the differential price exposure of conditional premium goods and services (including education, health care, alcohol) compared to goods. Relative differences can also provide revealing data for measuring purchasing power and how it varies across classes.
4. To compare different criteria (e.g. European cities have a higher cost of living, but a higher quality of public services, etc.), the same thing can be priceless, which is real gold in this kind of analysis: while nominally something, the cost can be much lower, adjusting quality, and in developing countries the cost of high-quality service can be much higher, making reciprocal adjustment difficult.
5. In addition to consumption, it would be interesting to see extra-budgetary data on quality of life in this calculation. For example, some rough measures of the per capita costs of pollution are the hidden costs of health care/lost work hours and the trade-offs of time and money in public services. Easy access to the living space, required time for gas, electricity, telephone connections, etc.
I've been following numbeo for years, the data collection is always useful, inaccurate etc. Hope you keep up the good work!
